NEW DELHI : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today declared the results for class XII examination, with 82 per cent students passing the exam and girls faring better than boys.
The pass percentage of girls stood at 87.56 as compared to 77.77 per cent of the boys.
The overall pass percentage was marginally lower than last year where 82.70 per cent students had passed the exam as against 82 per cent this year.
Thiruvananthapuram Region registered the highest pass percentage at 95.41.
M Gayatri of New Green Fields school, New Delhi has topped the exam in the country securing 99.2 per cent. She scored 496 marks out of 500.
In all, 10,40,368 candidates had registered for class XII examination this year, an increase of about 1.2 per cent candidates over that of last year.
Photocopies of the evaluated answer sheets will be provided to the candidate(s) requesting for it and only to those candidates who have applied for verification of marks.
Applications will be accepted by the Board from June 13 to June 17, CBSE said in a statement.
It also said only those candidates who apply for verification of marks and for obtaining photocopy of the evaluated answer book can apply for re-evaluation in maximum 10 questions each.
The re-evaluation of answer books will be available for subjects such as English Core, English Elective(NCERT), English Elective(CBSE), Hindi Core, Hindi Elective, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Economics and Accountancy.
The compartmental Examination will be held on July 16, 2015.
A total of 13,284 students in foreign countries had also appeared in the class XII examination and their pass percentage is 92.31.
The second rank has been shared by three students- Mythili Mishra (Noida), B Arun (Trivendram) and Saurabh Bhambri (Delhi), scoring 495 marks.
The third rank has also been shared by three students Poonam Kumari from Mohindergarh (Haryana), Gurwinder Singh Saini from Jalandhar and N Nishok Kumar from Chennai, who obtained 494 out of 500 marks.
Students with special needs also performed well in the class XII examination with 123 of them obtaining above 90 percent marks.
“The applications for verification of marks should be made online from May 27 to June 2, fee for which will be Rs 300 per subject,” said CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma. (AGENCIES)
