JAMMU, Aug 12: Science Club of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar organized a guest lecture on “Van Mahotsav” by Ch Vidya Sagar, former District Sessions Judge and General Secretary of Indian Council of Enviro-legal Action J&K Chapter.
He highlighted the importance of plants and forests and strongly recommended to celebrate this day as a festival.
On the occasion, Dr O P Vidyarthi also expressed his views regarding flora of local plants like arjuna, neem and amla and their need to be planted in the vicinity of institutions.
Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College asked the students to cultivate the habit of nurturing the planted trees and also motivated them to plant one tree each in the college campus.
The lecture was attended by large number of students and faculty members from various departments and Prof Suchitra Sapru, Convenor of the Science Club. Dr Kuldeep Singh, HoD Botany conducted the proceedings.
