SRINAGAR, May 27: High Court today issued notice to the Government in PIL alleging negligence on part of hospital authorities resulting into deaths of pregnant women during delivery of babies.
The Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice N P Vasantha Kumar and Justice D S Thakur issued notice to Chief Secretary of the State, Principal Secretary to Health, Director Health Services Kashmir, Commissioner Secretary to Home and Director General of Police for filing response within six weeks period to the allegation raised in the PIL.
Petitioner in the instant PIL states that his mother was admitted in the District Hospital Pulwama for delivery of the Baby in the month of March. She was operated but some instrument was kept inside the operated portion due to which she continuously bled but no care from the doctors and staff resulting into death of his mother. He further submitted that similar nature of four deaths had already taken place due to negligence on part of the doctor entrusted with the job.
He prayed that Crime Branch be directed to register the case of these deaths and investigate the matter and higher officials of Health Department shall be directed to furnish the list of the doctors along with their qualification and experience.
He further sought direction from the court that record of qualification of the doctors who have been appointed under NRHM scheme be called before the court and the same be counter checked by the expert committee.
