Bid to grab Govt land in Mendhar Tehsildar gets life threat from MLC’s Secy

JAMMU, Aug 12: Tehsildar Mendhar has received threat to his life from the private secretary of  Member Legislative Council (MLC) of  National Conference after the revenue officer refused to make illegal allotment of  Government land  measuring nearly 10 kanal in his name falling in Mendhar tehsil of district Poonch.
Tehsildar, Subash Dogra who received threats and abuses from Mohd Sayed, (MLC’s Secretary) resident of Chhajla village   in presence of several people late last  evening, moved to the Police Station Mendhar and lodged an FIR. Tehsildar rang up officiating Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Sayed Anwar Shah and narrated the incident regarding mounting of pressure on him by politician’s man to allot land measuring 10 kanal and four marla under Khasra No 565 and 594 on his name.
Mr Dogra when contacted said that one Sayed Mohd, private secretary of the National Conference MLC came to his official residence last evening along with his file. “Sayed was after me for the last several days  for getting this illegal work to be done. I told him that this land is Evacuee Property and moreover, I not do the illegal work. On this he got furious and started abusing me in front of some people. He also threatened me for life. I also lost temper and asked go and do whatever you can. Then hearing loud noise, many people gathered there. Then, Mohd Sayed left the place giving some more threats to get me transferred far away”, he added.
When asked about any pressure from MLC, Javed  Rana on him, Mr Dogra said once a phone call came from his side few days back and the MLC asked him to look into this file. He also told that his man will come to him.  He disclosed that 7 kanal and 10 marla land falls in Khasra No. 565 while  2 Kanal and  14 Marla in Khasra No. 594. Mr Dogra further said that he informed SDM Mendhar Ranjit Singh and officiating DC Poonch, Anwar Hussain Shah immediately and moved to Police Station Mendhar and lodged a written complaint against the accused person.
SDPO Mendhar, Amit Bhasin when contacted said that a written complaint in this regard has been received from the Tehsildar. “We are looking into the matter and action under law will be taken”. While SHO Mendhar was not available, the `Munshi’ while reading contents of the First Information Report said that complaint was with them and Tehsildar has mentioned about threat to his life and misbehavior. But he maintained that an FIR is yet to be registered in this connection.
Officiating DC (ADC), Poonch, Anwar Hussain Shah when contacted said that he received a complaint on telephone from Tehsildar Mendhar last night. Some loud noise was also being heard during the talk. He said the matter was also communicated to the higher officers of the department. A complaint has been lodged with the Police and they have yet to take any action in this regard. When asked that police officers were avoiding media and also causing delay in registration of an FIR, the ADC said, “We have lodged an FIR and now the ball is in their court”.
However, MLC Javed Rana when contacted said that he has not issued any threat to Tehsildar or sought any favour from him. The NC leader maintained that he had some talk with him in recent law and order problems in Mendhar area in connection with some land encroachment issue which also appeared the section of press. He further said that he had no knowledge about any such complaint in this regard.
