JU SC/ST employees discuss various demands, issues

JAMMU, May 29:  The Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association held its special meeting on the university campus and discussed various demands and issues.
The Association meet, chaired by its president R L Kaith and attended by a large number of SC/ST employees, discussed UGC’s communication number 1-4/2007(SCT) dated 18.08.2009 and urged the Vice-Chancellor Professor R D Sharma to propose to the State Government to effect necessary amendments in University Act for statutory support for representation of SC/ST in competent bodies like University Council, Syndicate, Academic Council, Selection Committees, etc.
The meeting also discussed National Commission for SCs’ communication number R-9/J&K-2/2015/SSW-II dated 24.04.2015 threadbare and passed a resolution to urge the Vice-Chancellor to settle Association’s 13 years’ long pending case in view of High Court’s Interim Order dated 03.12.2009.
In addition, the meeting demanded construction of a ‘Common Office’ for all University employees’ organizations as promised by the Vice-Chancellor; implementation of already devised Transfer Policy; absorption of SC/ST in Establishment Branch and filling up of one post of Assistant Librarian with SC candidate under Reservation in Promotion Rule.
Those present in the meeting, included Surjeet Singh Heer, Paras Ram Sarmal, Satish Kumar, Mohan Lal, Pardeep Kumar, Milkhi Ram, B R Angral, Sukh Dev, Kunj Lal, Vijay Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Shehnaz Akhter, Neelam Bhagat and Champa Bhagat.
