SRINAGAR, May 30: Altaf Ahmad Wani, Member of the State Legislative Assembly from Pahalgam, called on N.N Vohra, Governor, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Mr. Wani briefed the Governor about various important issues relating to the ongoing development works and implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes within the area of his constituency.
The Governor urged Mr. Wani to remain involved in ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in Pahalgam and the smooth conduct of forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Saleem Beigh, State Convener of the Indian Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) also called on Mr. Vohra and bricked him about various conservation and management initiatives being undertaken by the INTACH for preserving the cultural heritage of the State, which include Resource Mapping of the historical city of Srinagar, preparation of the Heritage Map of the city and also about the to-date status of the restoration and conservation of the Nishat, Shalimar and Achabal Mughal Gardens.
The Governor asked Mr. Beigh to see that INTACH plays a significant role in the finalization of Master Plans of Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg as considerable damage has already taken place because of all manner of unplanned urban growth.
