NAGROTA, May 30: Prov-incial President National Conference, Jammu Devender Singh Rana on Saturday said that while the NDA in the centre is showcasing the PDP-BJP alliance in J&K as its biggest achievement, it is a predicament as to why the compensation is not being disbursed to the people of Jammu & Kashmir who have suffered in the floods also as to why is the state being made to starve on account of funds thereby creating a developmental deficient and economic distress.
Mr. Rana, who was addressing party workers at Bajalta and Pargalta in Nagrota Assembly Constituency here this afternoon, said that all the Centrally Sponsored Schemes have been cash starved and it is a serious matter that important schemes like MGNREGA have liabilities where the Government is by law supposed to clear the payment within a stipulated period of time.
He said the State Coalition Government needs to explain as to why the sector wise plan allocation for the year 2015-2016 has not been made till date thereby bringing the developmental activities to a halt. Rana said this exercise used to be completed by the end of April and 25% of the Plan funds used to be released to set the pace of developmental activities so that the working season is not missed.
“Performance inertia of the coalition has even derailed the progress of the schemes and initiatives taken by the previous Government for overall good of the people and progress of the state”, he said.
Mr. Rana said the public utility services are in shambles and Government seems to be a mute spectator. The performance of the PDP-BJP Government is dismal in the rural pockets and those living in these areas are suffering from neglect.
He said it is a distressing situation wherein the poor farmers have been neglected whose farm produce got totally damaged, the State Government employees are not being paid their salaries timely, the daily wagers are on streets for want of wages and even the widow pension and old age pension are not being disbursed.
“The people are caught in a situation where there seems to be no prospect of revival as the coalition is working under the diktat of different power centres “, Rana said while maintaining that the ideological divergence between the two have taken toll of pubic interest. He lamented over petty politics taking over the legitimate interests of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Provincial President urged the party cadre to get prepared for meeting the challenge posed by the anti-people policies of the coalition government and said that National Conference will perform its legitimate role as a responsible opposition to safeguard the public interest.
