Vakil, Charak, Sagar served notices

SRINAGAR, May 30: Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of the Congress Party today served notices to former Ministers and senior Congress leaders Abdul Gani Vakil, Gulchain Singh Charak and Prem Sagar Aziz for challenging the decision of the party high command for appointing Ghulam Ahmed Mir as J&K Pradesh Congress Committee.
Party sources said that Congress Disciplinary Action Committee today met under the chairmanship of senior party leader and former MP, P Namgyal at the party headquarters here at 12 noon. Other members of the committee including former Ministers Taj Mohi-ud-Din, R S Chib and Khemlata Wakhloo besides G N Mir Lasjan were also present.
Though two other senior members of the committee, former DyCM Tara Chand and Mohd Sharief Niaz (Ex-Minister) expressed their inability to attend the meeting at Srinagar, yet they conveyed that they will support the collective decision taken by the DAC.
The meeting which lasted for two hours, took  serious notice of the alleged anti-party activities of some of the senior party members, especially with regard to the reported statements in the section of media and remarks in public against the decision of the party high command to appoint senior party leader and former Minister G A Mir as PCC president. The Committee served notices to Abdul Ghani Vakil (Rafiabad), Gulchain Singh Charak (Jammu) and Prem Sagar Aziz from (Bani-Kathua), seeking their reply within two weeks.
The Disciplinary Action Committee after taking final decision, would recommend the action against these members to the AICC president Sonia Gandhi, the sources said.
