page1-1JAMMU, May 30: A youth from Vellore in Tamil Nadu, who was carrying with him the slip of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) managed to reach close to Ditch-Cum-Bund (DCB) area in Kanachak sector along the International Border (IB) last night before he was captured by the troops and handed over to police for further investigations.
He was travelling in an auto unchecked by the police anywhere notwithstanding the claims of high alert in the border areas.
The arrested youth has disclosed his identity as Zakir Ahmad, 35, son of Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, a diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering.
An official handout issued by the Army said that Mobile Vehicle Check Post of the Army apprehended Zakir Ahmad from close to DCB when he was moving in an auto rickshaw.
The youth was nabbed near village Chakrali under the jurisdiction of Kanachak police station and Gajansoo police post.
A paper cutting with ISIS written over it, one paper of phone numbers, Rs 140 in Indian currency and blank ATM slip of Jammu and Kashmir Bank were recovered from the arrested youth. He was not in possession of any valid documents and his movement close to the Pakistan border has become mystery.
Sources said the free movement of a South Indian close the border with mysterious slip of ISIS has raised doubts among security agencies. The youth hadn’t been intercepted anywhere by the police till he reached very close to the International Border and was nabbed by the Army.
“This shows extreme slackness on part of police, which claimed itself on high alert,” sources said.
Troops later handed over the youth to Kanachak police for detailed questioning, which was still on.
Sources said police have established contact with one of the family members of the youth, who was reportedly on way to Jammu. He has reportedly told police that the youth was mentally deranged, a claim which was yet to be verified.
The youth was married with Rabiya of Kasargod, Kerala and had one son, mother and four brothers.
