It was during the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister that medical allowance was increased from Rs 100 to Rs 300 per month. Times have changed since then. Consumer Price Index has increased manifold. Sixth Pay Commission has been implemented partially, but no Government since then has bothered to enhance the medical allowance. At a time when prices of medicines are increasing sharply, it is increasingly becoming difficult for us, particularly the pensioners to meet the medical expenses.
As such it is requested to the Government to enhance it to Rs 1000 pm.
