SRINAGAR, June 1: In order to bring visible improvements in the working of Jammu and Kashmir Police and make it a modern police force, the Organization is upgrading its infrastructural assets with modern living and working facilities. This could strengthen the living standards of the personnel and improve professional policing.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, while commissioning 3-storeyed multi hostel building at Security Lines Batmaloo here today. He said during past several years a large building infrastructure has been raised under modernization programme in all the districts of the State and handed over to the concerned units to house their personnel, offices as well as residential accommodation for the jawans and officers. He said that in the present times, infrastructure plays an important role to enhance efficiency of a force providing better service to the people.
Addressing the function, organized by Security Wing at Security Lines, Mr. Rajendra said that additional accommodation was a dire need to accommodate security personnel, who remain busy with their duties at different locations. He said that while constructing the hostel accommodation, latest requirements for the inmates have been kept in mind. He said that the accommodation with modern facilities would accommodate more than 200 jawans and officers, sufficing better living facilities for the Security Wing.
Mr Rajendra said that the constructions should be equipped with facilities including recreation for the personnel, who are always found busy in professional policing. Proper supervision by the senior officers would make performance more satisfactory, he added.
Before commissioning the building, the DGP was briefed by Managing Director, Police Housing Corporation, Dilbag Singh about the construction made by the Corporation. He said that the hostel building is having mess cum dinning and lavatory block facilities, besides sufficient accommodation and a conference hall. The construction of the project has cost Rs. 1.6 cores, covering a plinth area of 8235 sfts.
The function was attended by ADGPs, SP Vaid, VK Singh, SM Sahai and Dilbag Singh. IGPs, SJM Geelani, Sunil Sharma, MA Khan, Sunil Kumar, Jagit Singh, MA Ganai and JP Singh, SSPs, Mir Mohammad Choudhary, Maqsood-ul-Zaman, Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, Zulfikar Azad, MA Tak, Addl. SP, Mohammad Saleem, SP (Tech), Hilal Ahmed, XEn: PHC AR Lone, AEE Fareed Ahmed and other police officers.
