JAMMU, June 3: Congress today attacked the State Government and the Centre for neglecting the agriculture sector and allege that their wrong policies are forcing farmers to end life.
Salman Nizami, organizing and publicity secretary J&K PCC expressed his great displeasure over the compensation which was paid to the flood affected farmers of Sarore area of Jammu district. He today termed the compensation as a “cruel joke” with the poor farmers of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ill fated farmers who almost lost everything in the worst ever devastating floods of 2014 are facing yet another humiliation from the government as they are providing a meager compensation of Rs 47 to Rs 378 which served as the salt on the wounds.
“Compensation is a mere eyewash, and serves no purpose of compensating the poor farmers. As the farmers are believed to have suffered a loss amounting to Rs 20,000 to Rs 70,000 and they are being provided a compensation of just Rs 47 to Rs 378 which is a cruel joke with them”, added Salman Nizami.
He said that constitution of such an assessment teams serves no purpose as they failed to assess the exact loss suffered by the farmers. Nizami alleged that PDP-BJP government continued to prove that it was aimed at power lust and has totally failed in delivering/reaching out to the victims of such worst-ever nature’s havoc.
He demanded that the farmers should be adequately compensated and a mega plan be drafted in order to raise the damaged infrastructure which has suffered a great loss.
