AIIMS Issue: Not allow opposition to hijack it, it will come up in Jammu: Jitendra

JAMMU :  Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office  Dr Jitendra Singh today said the Opposition will not be allowed the hijack the AIIMS  issue  and asserted that it will come up here then elsewhere in the state.
“We want to make it clear that AIIMS will  first be established in Jammu as it was  announced for this region,” Dr  Singh told reporters at a press conference held here this morning as a part of  ‘Saal Ek Shuruaat Anek’.
He said that BJP will not allow opposition to  hijack the issue.    “AIIMS will be constructed in Jammu first, I assure  this. Let it be constructed anywhere later in the state,” said the Union  Minister.
Referring to the Super Speciality Hospital in Jammu, he said,  “the foundation for AIIMS was laid 10 years ago during Vajpayee government when  Sushma Swaraj was the Union Health Minister.”
He said that after the change of  guard at the Centre, the Congress government did not carried the project forward  and the building was later converted into Super Speciality Hospital.     Pertinent to mention here that former Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was  being credited by the Congress party for SSH in Jammu.
“But, I want to  make it clear that, we will not get AIIMS issue hijacked,” Dr Singh said, adding  that AIIMS will have to be set up in Jammu first.    The coordination  committee on AIIMS headed by president Bar Association of Jammu had already  announced to intensify agitation over setting up of AIIMS in Jammu.   Jammu  had also observed shutdown twice over issue.
