Need for quality control

Sir,
The ban imposed on sale of Maggie Noodles- the children’ s favourite instant noodles by some State Governments following allegations of the presence of lead and other taste enhancing elements exceeding the permissible limits, is a  welcome step to protect the interests of the consumers. It is the duty of both the Union and the State Governments to maintain strict quality control on such popular food products.People also need to be made aware about the harmful effects of consumption of such food and need for switching over to natural and homemade food for a healthier life.Fast food which is popular with children and the elders alike lacks vital nutrients which are so important for the healthy body and mind.As such, it is the duty of parents to ensure that  they and their children take sufficient quantities of fresh fruit, vegetables, milk, curd etc in order to develop their body and mind in a proper manner.
Moreover,it is the duty of the Government to subject such products as chocolate bars, icecreams, noodles, potato chips and other such eatables to thorough and strict tests before they are declared safe for human consumption. Not only this, it is often observed that vendors selling momos, golgaffas, kulchas etc often prepare these items in unhygienic conditions and serve them with bare hands thus, transmitting the disease causing germs to the consumers and playing with their lives .It must be made mandatory for them to use sanitary gloves while serving these items to the consumers.Effective monitoring needs to be exercised to ensure that they use pure water and permissible ingredients to prepare such stuff.
The milk vendors and those selling milk products such as cheese ,curd, kalari and sweets should be asked to maintain strict quality control and those found guilty of lapses in food safety standards need to be booked under the provisions of the relevent Acts.Strict action also needs to be taken against the officers/ officials entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining sanitation and quality control but found guilty of dereliction of duty. There is nothing more valuable than health of the people and the Government should take every measure to strictly implement the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act and thus, safeguard the health of the people and punish those unscruplous manufacturers and sellers who dare to ruin the health of the consumers.
Yours etc…
