Driver killed as tanker plunges into gorge

RAMBAN, June 5: A driver was killed, when the tanker he was driving plunged into gorge at Kunfer Nallah in Chanderkote area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
As per police sources, a tanker bearing registration number JK02R-6179 carrying diesel was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the steering and the vehicle landed into 600 feet deep gorge at Kunfer Nallah in Chanderkote area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, resulting into on the spot death of the driver.
The deceased has been identified as Joginder Singh (37), son of Kapoor Singh, tehsil Billawar, district Kathua.
After getting information, police team from Chanderkote police station led by SHO Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli and locals rushed to the spot and retrieved the body of the tanker driver.
The body was shifted to Chanderkote hospital, where after completing legal formalities, it was handed over to family members for last rites.
A case in this regard has been registered at Chanderkote police station and investigation started.
