JAMMU, June 6:  Former Minister and J&K National Conference general secretary, Ali Mohd Sagar has said that by paying cheques worth Rs 37 and Rs 47 and Rs 94, the PDP-BJP Government has played a cruel joke with the farmers of Jammu region.
Addressing a press conference along with NC provincial president Devender Singh Rana (MLA) here today, the NC leader described PDP-BJP dispensation as ‘Rs 37 Wali Sarkar’. He said offering such a meager amount as compensation to the farmers for their damaged crops due to floods, rains and hailstorm is a shameful act on the part of Mufti led Government. This is a cruel joke and an act of rubbing salt to the wounds of wrecked farmers.
Mr Sagar alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and some other BJP leaders claim themselves as well wishers of  farmers but they stood exposed before the public. There is already strong opposition in the country of the anti-farmer bill brought by the BJP Government and by offering such cheques, this Government is playing joke with the poor and hapless farmers.
He said  the NC strongly condemns this highly shameful act of the Mufti Government and appeals the farmers to out rightly reject this  offer. Mr Sagar said that NC will strongly fight for the cause of farmers and not allow them to let down. He further alleged that this Government has totally failed on all fronts and all the development works have been stalled. Mr Sagar also condemned the act of police firing on innocent youth at Ranibagh in Jammu and demanded high level judicial inquiry.
Devender Singh Rana alleged that both BJP and PDP were engineering communal divide which is very dangerous for the sensitive State like J&K. He said this regime was trying to cover its failures and trying to  divert the attention of the people on the issues of regional bias and communalism. He warned the present regime not to play with the fire as it would have serious repercussions for the people of this State and the country. He claimed that NC will not allow any force to disturb peace and communal harmony in the region.
While condemning the shameful act of PDP-BJP Government by offering Rs 37 and Rs 94 cheques to farmers in Marh area of Jammu district, Mr Rana said that NC would fight for providing justice to the farmers of Jammu.
