UDHAMPUR, June 6: District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary convened a meeting of district officers of various departments and senior citizens to review the arrangements for smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra at Udhampur town and its outskirts on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Chairing the meeting, DDC assured that district administration will make all out efforts for providing best facilities to the yatris and make provision of other basic amenities like drinking water, sanitation, electricity, lodging etc. He directed the concerned officers for formulating comprehensive sanitation, health, traffic management and lodging plans for the hassle free conduct of yatra and be ready every time to meet out any exigency.
He said that about 23 locations were identified for the lodging of yatris with all necessary facilities of drinking water, electricity, toilet and sanitation. He disclosed that the each camp would have Camp Commander and Camp Officer assisted by a team of officials, who would be responsible for ensuring basic facilities and assistance to the pilgrims.
The DDC directed CEO Municipality, Executive Engineer, PHE, PDD, PWD and Tehsildar (T), Udhampur to ensure fool-proof arrangements of sanitation, drinking water and power supply and construction of temporary toilets well in advance wherever needed. For the purpose, a team headed by ACR has already been constituted to personally check the status of facilities and submit report.
It was decided in the meeting that a control room would be set up in the District Police Line Udhampur which would function round the clock for the assistance of Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrims and ADC will be the nodal officer for the Yatra.
On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police, Suleman Choudhary assured the administration for full cooperation by the police department.
ADC, Angrez Singh Rana, ACR, Rajeev Magotra, SE PWD, Chief Medical Officer, District Information Officer, Engineers of PWD, PHE,PDD, SDM Chenani, Tehsildars, other officers and prominent citizens attended the meeting.
