UDHAMPUR, June 6: Dispensary in Galiote area in Pancheri tehsil of Udhampr district is lying defunct for the last two months.
According to the locals, there is no doctor as well as Medical Assistant in the village dispensary because of which they have to travel 45 kms for seeking medical aid.
The dispensary was opened in Galiot area in 2003 and doctors were also posted there that time. Later the doctor was transferred and two female Multi-Purpose Health Workers were posted there. However, both of them did not join their duty till date with the result that the dispensary is lying defunct for the last two months, the locals said.
Meanwhile, highlighting their grievance, a strong protest of the locals was held before the office of District Development Commissioner who assured that doctors and paramedical staff would soon be posted in the dispensary.
