JAMMU, June 6:  Army and police today busted a hideout of the militants and recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives in Tankimal forests of Ramban district.
Reports said troops of Rashtriya Rifles under Delta Force and local police launched joint search operation in Tankimal forests after developing specific information about a hideout of the militants. They destroyed the hideout and recovered a consignment of weaponry from there.
The seizure included three pistols with magazines, 12 rounds of AK-47, 19 rounds of 7.62mm SLR ammunition, four radio sets, one binocular, three RPG rounds, four UBGL grenades, three Chinese and six unknown make grenades and other explosive material.
“The recovery is significant achievement in the counter-insurgency operations in Banihal area of Ramban district. Timely recovery of the consignment by the troops has thwarted nefarious designs of the militants,’’ official sources said.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delta Force has complimented the troops for effective major recovery and dismantling terror infrastructure and support base in the Chenab Valley.
