Normalcy returns, SI shifted to AIIMS

JAMMU, June 6:  Sub Inspector Arun Sharma, former Incharge Gadigarh Police Post, who was stabbed by the miscreants during protests at Ranibagh on Thursday and admitted in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for ruptured intestines, was today referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi as his condition deteriorated.
DIG Jammu-Kathua range Ashkoor Wani said the SI was shifted to AIIMS New Delhi in Critical Care Ambulance on the directions of DGP K Rajendra as he developed some complications.
Situation in Jammu region remained normal today, Wani said.
Meanwhile, normalcy was restored in Jammu including areas falling under the jurisdiction of Satwari and Miran Sahib police stations following last night’s agreement between administration and Sikh representatives.
Army deployed along Satwari-RS Pura and Satwari-Digiana road has been withdrawn and undeclared curfew imposed in the areas from Satwari to Kulian has been lifted, official sources said.
A youth Jagjit Singh, who was killed in police firing on Thursday, was today cremated at his native village Chowala in RS Pura tehsil. A large number of people attended the cremation.
Shops and business establishments re-opened in disturbed areas and traffic was normal.
