Several mines explode in forest fire at LoC

MENDHAR, June 7: Tension erupted in Balakote area after dozens of land mines started exploding with the spread of wild fire near the Line of Control last night.
Reports said that the fire started from the Pakistani side just near Goga and Cheel Posts in PoK. Then spread into this side of the LoC, affecting Indian posts in Balakote area of Poonch sector. The mines planted along the LoC started exploding with the spreading of fire in 2-3 sq km area. The Army jawans sounded alert and also launched massive rescue operation. Some defence installations also suffered minor damage in the fire. The Forest and Army personnel jointly launched operation to contain the fire in Rani Tekri area and adjoining forward posts.
