SRINAGAR, June 9: Lt. Gen. (Retd.) N.C. Marwah, Member, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), called on N. N. Vohra, Governor, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
During their meeting, the Governor discussed with Lt. Gen. Marwah wide ranging concerns relating to disaster management preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir and NDMA’s role in guiding the State Government to formulate State and District Disaster Management Plans.
Lt. Gen. Marwah briefed the Governor about the projected Mock Drill exercises to be conducted by the NDMA in collaboration with the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board at the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps on June 25-27 for enhancing preparedness for disaster management among the functionaries of the Shrine Board and officials of the various Government Departments and agencies involved in the management of the forthcoming Yatra.
It is to be recalled that, under the Governor’s direction, several hundred employees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board have already been trained in Disaster Management.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Hassan Mir, former Minister, called on Mr Vohra.
The Governor and Mr. Mir discussed issues relating to employment, tourism and economic growth and development of the State.
