Meenu Choudhary appointed PS to Overseas Indian Affairs Minister

NEW DELHI, June 10:
IPS officer Meenu Choudhary was today appointed as the private secretary to Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Choudhary, a 2000-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the union territories cadre, is presently working as Deputy Inspector General in CBI.
She has been appointed till June 3, 2019, i.E. Maximum period of seven years of stay outside the cadre in a single stint, or on co-terminus basis with the Minister’s tenure, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training said.
The vacancy has come up as IPS officer Jagjeet Singh Deswal, who was working as the private secretary to the Overseas Indian Affairs Minister, was sent back to his union territories cadre before completion of his five-year term.
Deswal was in September last year appointed as private secretary to the Minister for five-year term. However, on May 26, the Appointments Committee of Cabinet had approved Deswal’s “premature repatriation”. (PTI)
