57 bovine animals rescued, 7 smugglers held

UDHAMPUR, June 11: In two separate cases, Police today foiled major attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 57 animals with the arrest of seven smugglers and seizure of four vehicles in Jakhani and Kud.
Reports said that based on reliable information, a Police Party, led by SHO Udhampur Arjun Singh Chib, laid a surprise naka on the national Highway near Jakhani and intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicles bearing Registration number JK02AX-0702 and a Truck JK05D-9601, which were on way towards Srinagar. During the thorough search, the vehicles were found loaded with 21 bovine animals, which were smuggled to Kashmir. Police rescued the animals and arrested three bovine smugglers on the spot. The smugglers were identified as Ashik Husan of Darsu in Udhampur, Madsar Ahmed Ganai of Ashabal Sopore Kashmir and Muslin Ahmad of Shfia Baag Baramula Kashmir.
Police also seized the vehicles and registered a case under section 188/RPC 3 PCA Act at Police Station Udhampur.
In a similar success, a Police party from Police Station Kud intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK02AE-4464 and JK02AT-8215, which were on way towards Kashmir. During the thorough search, the trucks were found loaded with 36 bovine animals, which were rescued by the Police.
Four bovine smugglers namely Rashid of Muthi Jammu, Mukhtyar of R S Pura, Bashir Ahmad and Sartaj Ahmad of Banihal. were arrested on the spot
Police also seized the trucks and register a case in this connection at Police Station Kud.
