India, Kazakhstan discuss development of trade, transport ties

NEW DELHI, Jun 13:
India and Kazakhstan today discussed the possibility of developing transport facilities and trade corridors between the two countries to promote trade between India and the Eurasian market.

A delegation from Kazakhstan’s National Company ‘Kazakhstan Temir Zholy’, headed by its President Askar Mamin, held discussions with Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to determine the transport capacity between the two countries. Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to India, Bulat Sarsenbayev, was also present.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of formation of an effective supply chain for trade flows between India and the largest markets of Eurasia, a spokesman of the Kazakhstan Embassy here said.

”The two sides discussed prospects of development of transport cooperation between the two countries and agreed to facilitate the movement of goods using the vast potential of the Kazakhstan– Turkmenistan–Iran railway as a part of ‘North-South’ Transport Corridor and enable access to the Indian market.

The delegation also held discussions with representatives of more than 80 industrial, commercial and transport associations discussed logistic opportunities for export-import operations in the region for India’s business circles.
