SRINAGAR, June 13: Expressing deep concern over the way distribution of educational institutions have been politicized in the Stater, MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yaseen have urged the Union Government to work on equitable infrastructure development and employment generation in the State so that a workforce is produced which could ultimately find job opportunities anywhere in the world.
The two leaders also emphasized on the need to focus on the unemployment problem in regions and sub regions of the State by addressing the problem with a holistic developmental agenda that can lead the State towards socio-economic prosperity.
In a joint statement issued here, the two leaders said that there should be no regional imbalance or inequality in the developmental initiatives and infrastructure building; otherwise the same can brew up an atmosphere of mistrust and alienation.
While supporting the demand for establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Jammu Tarigami and Hakim demanded that Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) be established in Kashmir for equitable progress in the State. This will also dispel the perception of discrimination, they stressed.
The two leaders also expressed their displeasure over mishandling of the issue advising the State and the Union Government not to indulge in politics of regional divide and consider the demands for infrastructure building purely on merit. They added that setting up of quality educational and technical institutions in Kashmir is a need of the hour as the Valley provides a perfect ambiance to be developed into an educational hub in the region.
