Suspended Patwari reinstated

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 13:  Financial Commissioner Revenue has reinstated Bashir Ahmad Lone, Patwari Halqa Khanpeth, Pattan, who was suspended in January last on the charge of producing a fake Government order for modification of his transfer.
However, services of the Patwari have been placed at the disposal of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla with the direction not to give a sensitive posting as a matter of abundant caution. The period of suspension will be decided after receipt of final report from the Crime Branch.
The re-instatement was ordered on the recommendation and report of Regional Director Survey & Land Records, Srinagar, who conducted an inquiry into the case and completely exonerated the Patwari from all the charges against him.
On January 5, 2015, Bashir Ahmad was transferred by the Commissioner, Survey & Land Records, J&K, from Tehsil Pattan, District Baramulla. However, he produced a fake modification order, claimed to be issued by the office of Chief Secretary.  During verification, the office of Chief Secretary informed that no such modification order was issued. The office of Chief Secretary also referred the matter to IGP Crime Branch to enquire and identify the person who managed the fake communication for further action against the defaulter.
On detection of the fraud, Commissioner, Survey & Land Records, J&K ordered suspension of Patwari Bashir Ahmad Lone and an inquiry into the matter by Regional Director Survey & Land Records, Srinagar.
