PDP-BJP failed to take off even after 100 days: Mir

POONCH, June 13: Pradesh Congress Committee president  Ghulam Ahmed Mir has alleged that PDP-BJP Government has failed to take off even after 100 days and the people of the State are suffering due to non-delivery of affective services.
Addressing a largely attended Congress workers convention of District Poonch at Surankote today,  Mir  said that there seems to be no Government on the ground. The sufferings of the people have added manifold after coming up of the new Government. Worst is the condition of roads all over the State and many development works have been stopped.  People are holding  protests for want of ration supply at many places and the  Treasuries are unable to pay pending bills of the employees and contractors.
Mir said that BJP-PDP Government has failed to take off yet even after more than 100 days and has created lot of controversies and hatreds between different regions and sections of the State, in view of their contradictory and narrow politics. He said that at the time of forming coalition Mufti Mohammad Syeed had claimed that this coalition would bring the regions closure and bring about massive financial support from the Centre but it has miserably failed on both these fronts as a result people of three regions are suffering.
PCC chief said Congress represents each and every section, region and religion of the society and has the vision, policies and programmes for the welfare and unification of people of different shades and thus alone can ensure justice in every sphere of life and equitable development of all three regions and the backward and remote areas in the State. Congress alone can ensure equitable development of all three regions with special attention towards the neglected, remote and  backward areas of the State.
He said that the people of State especially twin border districts would always appreciate the UPA leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh and  Sonia Gandhi for the Mughal Road project which has opened new opportunities of economic development in the region besides the unexplored tourism potential of the area.
Mir also referred to the setting up of separate Tourism Development Authorities besides sanctioning of various Educational and Health Institutions in the region including Govt. Medical College at Rajouri. Besides survey of the railway project amounting to more than Rs. 13612 crore to connect Rajouri-Poonch through railway on the initiative of Congress vice president  Rahul Gandhi after his visit in the region at Rajouri about two years back.
Former Minister  Sham Lal Sharma launched a scathing attack on BJP-PDP Govt   for unholy combination for sake of power after they contested elections on different plank and raised the emotional issue of two regions. He said that present coalition has failed to ensure justice to each region and held BJP responsible for surrendering the interests of people and throwing the elections promises to the dustbin. He referred to two bandh calls on the issue of AIIMS in Jammu region which reflect the anger of people.
PCC vice president Mula Ram,  MLA Ch Mohd Akram, former Minister Shabir Khan, former MLA Bashir Naz, Ex-MLC Murtaza Khan, Manmohan Singh, Rajneesh Sharma co-treasurer, Rajinder Singh Kaka and Sain Abdul Rashid both DCC presidents Poonch and Rajouiri  also spoke on the occasion. The MLA also raised the locals issues on the occasion.
