Political parties celebrate Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 15:  Various political parties celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm and national fervour and hoisted `tri-colour’ in various functions organized across the State today.
Congress Party celebrated 66th Independence Day in all the district and block headquarters across the J&K State today. In Jammu, the main function was organized at PCC headquarters Shahidi Chowk where Ex-MLA and president District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) Om Chopra, hoisted national flag in presence of functionaries of  PCC, DCC, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal, INTUC, NSUI and the people from all sections of society.
Mr Chopra while congratulating the people on this occasion, delivered an emotional speech which thrilled the people with desire to serve the nation. He recalled the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt J L Nehru, Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sardar Patel, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Lal Bahudur Shastri and many others. Prominent among others present on the occasion included PCC general secretary Ravinder Sharma,  Ex-MP Janak Raj Gupta, Shah Mohd, Kanta Bhan, S S Shingari, S R Sudhir, Kirtan Singh, M L Malagar, Vijay Sharma and V K Sethi.
PCC vice president Th Hari Singh unfurled national flag at Gandhi Chowk Satwari. A large number of party workers and other people were present on the occasion. He also unfurled tri-colour at Railway Road Vijaypur in district Samba.
PCC secretary, Anil Chopra, hoisted national flag in a function held at Main Bazaar Bakshi Nagar. A large number party activists, SDPO Bakshi Nagar and Tehsildar Jammu besides people of the locality participated in the function. Sweets were also distributed and a Langar was also organized. Senior Congress leader  Maheshwar Singh unfurled national flag at Paloura here today. Several residents of the area and party workers attended the function. Mr Singh extended greetings to the people and recalled sacrifices of the national heroes.
DCC Doda organized a function in connection with Ind-Day at Seri Bazar Bhaderwah. Naresh Kumar Gupta, president DCC Doda unfurled the national flag and congratulated the people on this occasion. National anthem was sung and sweets were distributed among the gathering. Mr Gupta in brief address recalled the sacrifices of the top leaders and national heroes for achieving freedom in 1947 from the British rule.
DCC Udhampur organized a function at the district headquarters here today. A Parbhat Pheri was also taken out in the morning, which culminated at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park (Dabbar Park). DCC president Bhupinder Singh Pathania, unfurled the national flag, followed by National Anthem. Mr Pathania and some other DCC leader including Brij Mohan Sharma and Shakeel Shah also addressed the gathering.
Pradesh Congress Seva Dal organized function at Gandhi Nagar under the leadership of Vipin Nischal, chief organiser district Jammu. The Seva Dal workers unfurled national flag and sung National anthem. Harvinder Singh, J K Koul, Anil Sharma, Kulbhushan and Sanjeev were also present.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit president, Shamsher Singh Manhas hoisted national flag on the occasion of 66th Independence Day of the country in a function held at Party office, Kachi Chawni  here today. Several senior party leaders including Ashok Khajuria MLA,  Jugal Kishore MLA, Dr Jitender Singh, Bali Bhagat, Kavinder Gupta, Sat Sharma, Ramesh Arora and Yudhvir Sethi were present on the occasion.
Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Rajouri unit organized a function in connection with Ind-Day at Rajouri district headquarters today. A `Parbhat Pheri’ was also taken out in the morning by the Party workers. BJP City unit president Vijay Sharma unfurled the national flag at main City Chowk  in presence of State secretary Vivod Gupta and senior leaders Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Yogesh Sharma, Rajinder Gupta, Sanjay Dutt  and Rinku Sharma. Sweets were also distributed among the participants. BJP leader and former Corporator, JMC Sheela Handoo unfurled tri-colour in a function held at Durga Nagar here today.
J&K National Conference, organized a grand function in connection with I-Day at Party headquarters Residency Road here today. Provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta hoisted the National flag. Mr Gupta while congratulating the people on this occasion said that freedom from the British rule was not achieved easily. A large number of people sacrificed their lives for it. He said that their sacrifices can never be ignored.  He said the country has achieved a lot in last 65 years of independence and  much more is needed to be done.
Former Minister and MLC Ajay Sadhotra, Rashpal Singh (MLA), Bimla Luthra (MLA) and other leaders  Brij Mohan Sharma, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Laxmi Dutta, Jugal Mahajan, Kashmira Singh, Chander Mohan, Pardeep Bali, Vijay Lochan, T S Tony, S S Bunty, S M Gill, S Peter, Nar Singh, Rajesh Bakshi, Satya Jamwal, Rashida Begum, Pinki Bhat, Rekha Chib, Uma Jamwal, Veena Oberoi, Dilshada, Saroj Gupta and Sham Mehra were also present.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in a function held at party office Gandhi Nagar here today, celebrated the Independence Day. Former MP and senior party leader T S Bajwa and  former Minister S. Rangil Singh hoisted the national flag. They congratulated the people on this occasion. The speakers also recalled the sacrifices of top leaders and national heroes during the freedom struggle. Senior party leaders Ved Mahajan, Anil Gour, Falail Singh, R K Bali and others were also present.
PDP’s Trade Labour wing led by Suresh Sharma organised a function at SFC office Gladni here today. Mr Sharma hoisted the national flag and congratulated the trade union activists on the occasion.
PDP’s youth wing, organized a function in connection with the Independence Day here today. Several party activists were present on the occasion. Gurdeep Singh, youth leader hoisted tri-colour and congratulated the people on this occasion.
Bahujan Samaj Party celebrated 66th Independence Day function, at the party office Narwal Pain here today. State president of the party Tulsi Dass Langeh hoisted the national flag in presence of several senior party leaders. Sweets were distributed among the participants. Later, Mr Langeh addressed the gathering and recalled the contribution of those who sacrificed their life for the cause of nation.
R L Chargotra, Rattan Bhagat, Bansi Lal, Dr Harjeet, Tilak Raj Yashpal Bhagat, Badri Nath, Swaran Lal also spoke on the occasion.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) hoisted national flag at the Central office of the party here today. State president Th Randhir Singh hoisted national flag. Several other party leaders were also present. They sung the National anthem and congratulated each other on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion NCP leader recalled the sacrifices of the national heroes and said that country achieved freedom with long struggle. He also supported campaign against corruption and said that it has distorted the true meaning of freedom.
Janata Dal Secular also celebrated Independence-Day in a function held at party office Raghunath Bazar here today, working president of the party Kulbir Singh hoisted  tri-colour and congratulated the people on this occasion. JD (S) leaders Ram Rattan Sharma and  Raman Sharma also hoisted national flag in a function held at Nagrota Chowk, near Jammu today.
Janata Dal (U), national general secretary Mahila wing, Mohani Mohan hoisted national flag in a function held at Kotla in Udhampur today. Several party workers of the district body and residents of the area were present. Mrs Mohan hoisted national flag and congratulated the people on this occasion. Sweets were also distributed among the participants by the organizers.
J&K Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) Youth wing  in a function held here today celebrated Independence Day. Siddarth Mehta provincial president Jammu and Rajiv Gupta, senior leader unfurled the national flag.
Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) in a function held at Talab Tilloo here celebrated the Ind-Day today. Party general secretary Ajay Kumar hoisted national flag while several other party leaders were also present on the occasion. They included Peer Abdul Majid, Sham Lal Bhagat, Gursagar Singh, Sanjay Manhas, Balwinder Singh, Vishal Choudhary and Kamaljeet.
National Democratic Party (NDP) also celebrated Independence Day in a function held at Party office, Trikuta complex, B C Road here today. Party president Ravi Bakshi hoisted the national flag in presence of some senior party office bearers and activists. He congratulated people on this occasion and asked them to strengthen the campaign against corruption and black money in the country so that true meaning of the freedom could be achieved by the people.
Kranti Dal activists organized a function in connection with the Ind-Day at Lower Roop Nagar here today. Pritam Sharma, State general secretary, unfurled the national flag. Several party activists and residents of the area were also present.
JK People’s Front, also organized a function at Dogra Nagar in Muthi today. Party president Satish Poonchi hoisted the national flag in presence of large number of people of the area.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Poonch in a function organized in Poonch city celebrated 66th Independence Day. A large number of NYK volunteers, ITNDYFW activists, students and people from administration participated. National flag was hurled by senior people of the organisation. Similar programme was also organized at Mendhar town.
