Jammu, June 17: Sanskritik Yatra-2015, a folk Music and Dance programme was jointly organized by North Zone Cultural Centre and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Police Auditorium, Jammu. V.K Sambyal, Director Radio Kashmir, Jammu was the chief guest and Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan, Jammu was the guest of honour. Prof Lalit Mangotra, Convenor Dogri, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi, and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jagjit Singh, Programme Officer, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, Kamlesh Kumari were also present in the presidium.
While delivering his address, V.K Sambyal said that showcasing the Folk Music and Dance traditions of various States enables Jammuites to witness and feel the diversified culture of secular India.
While applauding the effots of North Zone Cultural Centre and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in organizing such a Mega Event in the heart of the city, he futher said that such programmes will provide a platform to the artists of Jammu region to equally perform with the artists of other states and will also interact with them.
Anjali Sharma, said that after a long period, the audience of Jammu region witnessed the glimpses of traditional folk forms of other parts of the country and complimented JKAACL AND NZCC for providing an opportunity to the artists of Jammu region in particular and to the public in general. While appreciating the performances of participating states, she said that after doing such a marvelous composite and diverse culture of India, one can well imagine the strength and richness of India.
Earlier, while welcoming the distinguished Guests, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn briefed about the future activities of the Academy. He said that Sanskritik Yatra-2015 commenced today at Jammu will perform at Srinagar on June 19, on June 21, at Kargil, and from June 22 to 25 at Leh.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sanjiv Shad and Vote of thanks was presented by Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri, JKAACL.
The states who performed include:- Jhoomar and Folk Music Programme by Punjab, Bihu by Assam, DKaalvelia and Folk Music Programme by Rajasthan, Fog by Haryana, Mayoor by Uttar Pradesh, Siddhi-Dhamaal by Gujarat and Jaagarna by J&K.
