JMC launches drive against unhygienic mutton

JAMMU, June 17: The Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr. Zafar Iqbal along with field staff on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Simrandeep Singh and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Soujanya Sharma  conducted a drive against mutton in the areas of  Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Rail Head, Jewel, Gujjar Nagar etc.
While checking quintals of meat checked and 11 kg of unstamped/unhygienic meat was discarded at dumping ground Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu and fine to the tune of Rs. 7000/- has been realized from the defaulters.
The drive will remain continue in near future against all the food establishments/shops running in the market are strictly warned and directed to ensure the supply of good quality of meat to the citizens of Jammu City.
Jammu Municipal Corporation appealed to all the establishments/shops especially those dealing with meat to maintain hygienic environment within their premises and make available good quality/stamped meat to the consumers.
