Voda to donate 1 paisa/call, Rs 5/new customer for Kashmir

NEW DELHI:
Telecom operator Vodafone India today said that throughout the month of Ramdaan it will support flood-affected poor families in Kashmir by donating 1 paisa from every call made or recharge and Rs 5 out of every new activation on its network in the state.
“Starting from June 19, 2015, it will donate 1 paisa out of every call or recharge and Rs 5 out of every new activation in Kashmir province during the entire month of Ramdaan,” Vodafone said in a statement.
In the third consecutive year of its tie-up with a local NGO, Vodafone is raising funds for the education of children of flood-affected families in Kashmir.
“At a time when families in Kashmir have suffered immensely due to the floods that ravaged the Valley, we felt that this ‘giving’ gesture on Ramdaan could be of help to them as they rebuild their lives,” Vodafone India Business Head for J&K Pushpinder S Gujral said.
During the last two years, as part of this initiative, Vodafone donated a sum of around Rs 10 lakh, the statement said. (AGENCIES)
