Genuine resentment of Jammuites

Sir,
Kindly refer news item “Charak alleges discrimination with Jammu in introduction of 2-year B.Ed course in JU” June 11, 2015 in which the former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak genuinely highlighted the discriminatory and apathetic attitude of the State Govt. regarding two years B.Ed course for Jammu region and one year course in the University of Kashmir. The learned ex-Minister has rightly pointed out that when there is one Chancellor, one Pro-Chancellor, one State, one Education Minister for Higher Education,  then why two yardsticks for the two regions so far as policies and programmes of higher education especially at B.Ed level is concerned. Besides, the two different durations of B.Ed course, there will also be two different yardsticks for percentage of marks for seeking admission to the said course i.e. 45 percent marks for the University of Kashmir and 50 percent marks in the University of Jammu. It will not be out of place to mention that the fate of Jammu region students will also be at stake as they have to wait for one more year to apply for same job in the same State. As a matter of fact, the State Govt has already been exposed in many areas so far as step motherly treatment with Jammu region with regard to shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Srinagar, deferring the construction of Artificial Lake in Jammu, postponement of Gandola from Bahu Fort to Mubarak Mandi etc. clearly indicates that the Govt at the helm of affairs is not doing justice with the Jammu region. The condition of roads in Jammu is so bad that one is ashamed of the place in which we live.
Hence, it would be proper on the part of administration that they must realize that these type of fissiparous tendencies will not work in the long run, it will develop hatred feelings in the minds of youth in particular and people of Jammu region in general. For God sake, the Govt must intervene and come forward to bring uniformity in the State of J&K so that shaky confidence of the people of this region may be restored.
Yours etc…
