SRINAGAR, June 19: Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, chaired a meeting at Raj Bhavan today to review the to date status of the arrangements being made for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra, which is scheduled to commence on July 2.
The meeting was attended by P. K. Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer and R. K. Pandita, General Manager (Works) of the Shrine Board, among others.
The Governor reviewed the to-date position of the various on-going arrangements for the Yatra including grant of tent and shop permissions by the Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal districts, snow clearance and repair of the tracks on both the routes, provision of power and water supplies, sanitation arrangements and erection of igloo type shelter sheds etc.
The Governor was informed that 1548 toilets/ baths have been installed on both the routes and 2490 tents / shops permissions have been issued for the Pahalgam route and 1263 tents / shops permissions have been issued on the Baltal route by the Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal districts, respectively.
CEO also informed the Governor that facilities like electricity, water supply, toilets/baths and communication systems have already been established at the Baltal, Nunwan and Chandanwari Camps.
It was reported to the Governor that work on the restoration of tracks by the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) on the Pahalgam-Holy Cave route and by the PWD (R&B) on the Baltal- Sangam route is progressing satisfactorily. Governor directed that the work on Sheshnag-Panjtarni route should be accelerated by the PDA for timely completion. Re-assembling and erection of prefabricated huts and Lgloo type shelter sheds at various locations should also be expedited. He stressed on timely ensuring all the essential facilities including proper arrangements for sanitation at various camps.
CEO informed the Governor that the Camp Directors had left Srinagar today for their respective locations. They will supervise all arrangements and facilities being set up for the pilgrims, and furnish daily situation reports to the Shrine Board Control Room.
Governor has directed CEO to daily review and inform him about the progress of all repair/ renovation works which are presently underway at various Camps and along both the Yatra routes.
