Stolen tanker loaded with diesel recovered, thief arrested

JAMMU, June 19: Police recovered stolen tanker loaded with 9000 litres diesel from Awantipora, Srinagar and arrested the thief.
According to Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey, on June 17, Gurmeet Singh, son of Pritam Singh of Talli Morh, Bhagwati Nagar lodged a complaint with police station Nowabad that his tanker bearing registration number JK02AE-4174 loaded with 9000 litres diesel has been stolen by some miscreants from outside his residence.
Acting on the complaint, a case under FIR number 87/15 under Section 379 RPC was registered at police station Nowabad and a team was constituted, Mr Pandey added.
SSP stated that on some specific information, police team recovered the tanker from Awantipora, Srinagar and arrested the thief, who has been identified as Sukhdev Singh, son of Kartar Singh of Talli Morh, Bhagwati Nagar.
The value of recovered tanker and 9000 litres diesel was approximately Rs 15 lakh, he added.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team comprising of Sandeep Choudhary, SDPO City West, SHO Nowabad Inspector Karan Chalotra and Incharge police post Canal Road SI Sandeep Charak under the supervision of Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan, SP City North solved the theft case.
