LeT militant killed, five policemen injured in sopore blast

SRINAGAR :  A foreign militant of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed and five   police personnel were injured when an explosive device went off in a police vehicle at apple township of Sopore.
Three former militants and an activist of hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) were killed by unidentified gunmen last week in Sopore.
Official sources said a blast took place in a police vehicle carrying a prisoner Waheed Noor Khan, a resident of Pakistan and police escort  to a local session’s court Sopore.
Khan was killed and five police personnel were injured who were shifted to local hospital. However, all the injured were later referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciecnes (SKIMS).
Four people were killed by unidentified gunmen last week evoking massive condemnation and protests in the valley.
Separatist organisations had also called for ‘Sopore Chalo’ in protest against these killings which were foiled by security forces and police as curfew-like restrictions were imposed in downtown and Shehar-e-Khas, while all the separatists leaders were put under house arrest or taken into preventive custody.
