19 Rescue Teams to be deployed during Amarnath Ji Yatra

SRINAGAR, June 20: A meeting to decide the specific places for the location of Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs), Avalanche Rescue Teams (ARTs) and Dog Squads during forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra was held here at the Raj Bhavan.
The meeting, chaired by P.K. Tripathi, CEO, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, was attended among others by S.M. Sahai, ADGP, Armed, J&K; Maj. Gen. Arvind Dutta, GOC, Hqrs. Victor Force; Sayed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani, IGP, Kashmir; Suresh Yadav, DIG, BSF, Kashmir, and Jitendra K. Singh, Addl. CEO, SASB.
It was informed that 6 MRTs, each comprising 10 police personnel would be deployed by June 25 at Sheshnag, Wavbal, Poshpatri, Lower Holy Cave on the Pahalgam route and at Sangam and Brarimarg along the Baltal route to cover vulnerable stretches on both the Yatra routes.
The MRTs are deployed to help women and sick Yatris in negotiating difficult stretches on the Yatra routes. It was disclosed that all the equipments required by the MRTs have already been procured and these teams will be provided all necessary logistic support.
Further along the Pahalgam route; 09 teams of ARTs including 03 teams of NDRF and 06 teams of SDRF would be deployed at Pahalgam, Pissu Top, Sheshnag and at Nunwan, Chandanwari, Sheshnag, M.G. Top, Poshpatri, and Panjtarni. Along the Baltal route, 04 teams of ARTs including 03 of SDRF and 01 of NDRF would be deployed at Neelgrath, Baltal and Sangam Top, and at Baltal.
20 Dog Squads would be deployed by the Army, J&K Police and CRPF along the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. Along the Pahalgam route, the Dog Squads would be positioned at Mirbazar, Pahalgam, Nunwan, Chandanwari, Zozibal, Sheshnag, M.G. Top, Poshpatri, Panjtarni and Holy Cave. Along the Baltal route, 1 Dog Squad each would be positioned at Neelgrath and Baltal.
