Ex-CCI chief asks Jammu people to remain cautious

JAMMU, June 20: Former president Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and member Coordination Committee Jammu spearheading the movement for the establishment of AIIMS at Jammu, Y V Sharma congratulated the people of Jammu for giving whole hearted support to bandh call given by the coordination committee which was later on withdrawn by the coordination committee for arriving at a workable and practical arrangement with the Government, however, he explained that the matter has been made complex by the Government by its vacillating attitude.
Mr Sharma said the AIIMS was meant for Jammu. One of the parties in coalition Government which was given massive mandate by the people of the Jammu constantly talked of discrimination against Jammu before the election and got votes on the plank that they would end it if they come to power, however, after coming to the power they compromised the interests of Jammu in many things one after the other. People of Jammu are very peaceful and law abiding citizens not believing in creating problems for nothing by resorting to Bandh Calls, agitations etc.
People responsible for the U- turn realized their mistake and felt guilty and started damage control but they never made the stand clear but confused the issue still further by issuing contradictory statements by different leaders at different times. When the situation reached the climax they woke up from their slumber called the coordination committee and handed over the written commitment that the final commitment from the Central Government will be issued before July 20, 2015.
Mr Sharma was of the opinion that in the view of the massive support from all sections of the people and in particular Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu, members of coordination committee who had gone for talks with the Government should have gained some time and consulted all members of Coordination Committee before arriving at the decision. He cautioned the coordination committee not to be complacent and prepare themselves for a strong struggle in case the authorities do not fulfill the promise.
