Awareness programmes organized on Yoga

JAMMU, June 20: Ahead of the International Yoga Day, Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Ambphalla, Jammu and Dogra Law College organized awareness programmes on Yoga in their premises.
An awareness lecture on the topic ‘Holistic Health and Science of Yoga’ was organized today in the premises of Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Ambphalla, Jammu.
Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, former Minister of State for Defence and former MLA Jammu West, was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr TR Raina, administrator of the hospital was the key speaker.
In a power point presentation, Dr Raina said, “Yoga is an ancient Indian philosophy of life based on scientific foundations and is the most secular universal system of brotherhood which harmonizes physical, mental and spiritual well being and is thus known for disease prevention, health promotion and management of many life style related disorders.”
The programme was attended by all the doctors, paramedical staff and ministerial staff of the hospital besides members of the management committee of the Mission.
The NSS unit of the Dogra Law College also observed the Yoga Day in its campus. 40 students along with faculty members participated in the Yoga Day programme and were acquainted with various aspects of Yoga.
Chairman, DET, Gulchain Singh Charak, presided over the function and threw light on the importance of the Yoga in today’s busy life style. He advised the students to perform Yoga everyday for mental and spiritual peace of mind.
Principal, Dogra Law College, Gurmeet Kour, also attended the function and laid down the emphasis on Yoga in day to day life.
