INTACH Jammu Chapter organizes motivation camp

Jammu, June 20: Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Jammu Chapter organized a motivation camp in the conference hall of Govt. Polytechnic College Jammu with the aim to motivate and sensitize the students of Architecture field towards heritage conservation, its restoration and not to destroy the rich cultural heritage of the State at any cost. The students were motivated to join the heritage conservation movement and to take part in various activities initiated by INTACH, which will increase their knowledge and field exposures.
Arun Bangotra, Principal of the College while welcoming the Convener and Core Group members of INTACH appreciated the efforts of Jammu Chapter in organizing the motivation Camp in this prestigious Institution of Jammu.
S.M. Sahni, Convener INTACH Jammu Chapter briefed the students and the factuality members about the INTACH, a National level NGO achieved the work of excellence in the field of cultural heritage of the Nation and the activities undertaken in Jammu such as prepration of DPR’s of Mumbark Mandi Heritage Complex, Zorawar Singh Fort Reasi, Hiranagar and Lakhanpur Fort. The Restoration work of all these Heritage Complexes is in progress by the respective departments, various Conservator profiles stand submitted to the concerned Departments such as Poonch House, G.G.M.S College, (Erstwhile Prince of Wales College) Purmandal, Utterbehni, Raghunath Ji Temple, Shri Sumbli, Kol Kandoli Nagrota Temples.
Kuldeep Wahi, Member Core Group explained the important features of Heritage as Tourism Component which helps in boosting the economy of the local population.
C.M. Seth Life Member of INTACH and Chairman W.W.F J&K chapter briefed the participants about their rich cultural heritage, its evolution and boundings in the society.
