10 kg Bhuki seized, 2 held

KATHUA, Aug 15: The police arrested two persons and recovered 10 kg of poppy straw (Bhuki) from their possession near Dayala Chak in tehsil Hiranagar today.
A police spokesman said that a police naka party near Railway bridge Dayala Chak, intercepted  a motor-cycle and during frisking of two riders, recovered 10 kg of Bhuki from their possession. One of them tried to escape but was nabbed.
They were identified as Mohd Salim, son of Qasim Din, resident of Sandla in Ramkote and Showkat Ali, son of  Ghulam Ali, resident of Samba. They were moving from Kathua to Ramkote area with consignment. The police arrested both of them and registered a case.
Meanwhile, Hiranagar police also seized 80 pouches of J&K Excise liquor at Dayala Chak and arrested one person in this connection. The accused identified as Mohan Singh resident of Mangloor near Dinga Amb, runs a Dhaba at Dayala Chak. The police booked him under Excise Act.
