Mir urges Govt to provide relief to rain hit people

JAMMU, June 26: President JKPCC Ghulam Ahmed Mir has  expressed  concern over the loss to the livestock and other property due to the recent rains and cloud burst in several parts of Kashmir Valley in past couple of days and urged the Govt. to take immediate measures to assess  the loss and provide adequate relief and compensation to the people.
In a statement Mr. Mir expressed solidarity with those affected by these rains and cloud burst in which people  have suffered loss to their livestock and other property like in Omoh area near Verinag in south Kashmir where more than 350  goats, sheep and other livestock has perished causing great loss to the  people.
Expressing his deep sympathies with those people who have  suffered loss in these incidents, PCC Chief urged the government to immediately asses the individual loss in this regard and provide adequate relief and compensation to the affected people.
Mr.  Mir further said that because of rains there has been extensive damage to water and power supply in some parts like in upper areas of Verinag and asked the authorities to take immediate steps for restoration of supply system keeping in view the ongoing period of Ramzan.
