20 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers held

RAJOURI, June 26: Rajouri Police, under the supervision of SSP Hasib Mugal, today rescued 20 bovine animals and arrested two smugglers in this connection.
A Police party, led by SHO Thanamandi, Inspr Narinder Singh Chib under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Iftqar Talib, laid nakas at Begunar as well as Churang Bridge Thanamandi and rescued the animals.
During checking at Naka Begunar, Police rescued 11 bovine animals, which were being taken from Rajouri to Srinagar via Thanamandi on foot without any permission.  The accused fled from the spot. In this connection, Case FIRs No. 90/2015 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA was registered at P/S Thanamandi.
Similarly, one truck-709, bearing registration No JK14H-2326, was intercepted at naka at Churang Bridge from which nine bovine animals were rescued. Two persons were arrested namely Mohd Bashir of Sailsui and driver of the vehicle Safait Hussain of Rajdhani, Thanamandi.  The vehicle has been seized by the police.

Meanwhile, reports from Kalakote said that Police arrested a bootlegger and seized 12 bottles of rum from his possession. The accused, identified as Pawan Kumar of Mogla, was held from Chakli Morh Kalakote, when he was carrying the bottles of rum and had been waiting for a bus.
