Lal Singh inspects healthcare facilities in Leh

LEH, June 27: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today asked authorities of District Hospital Leh and Primary Health Centre Thiksay to chalk out effective strategies to provide enhanced and prompt health services to the people of the district.
The Minister, who is on a tour to Ladakh region, was inspecting the healthcare facilities at District Hospital Leh.
Executive Councillor Health LAHDC Dr. Sonam Wanchuk, Deputy Commissioner Leh Saugat Buswas, Project Director AIDS Control Society Dr. Mohan Singh, Mission Director NHM Dr Yash Pal Sharma, Drug Controller Nazir Ahmed, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Sharma, Ex-MLA Kanta Andotra, Deputy Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Kareem, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Leh Dr. Phunchock Ahghcuk accompanied the Minister.
The Minister directed the hospital authorities to provide quality and hassle free services to the people for which he asked them to upgrade the infrastructure and human resource. He directed to ensure that all the diagnostic equipments like X-Ray, Gyne, CT Scan are well maintained and kept in functional mode round the clock for convenience of the patients.
Ch Lal Singh underlined the need to start evening OPDs in order to provide additional facility to the ailing people. He also enjoined upon them to strengthen Emergency Ward by making availability of additional staff and other required items which will further add to healthcare of the patients.
Earlier, the Minister inspected Emergency and other blocks and took stock of facilities there. He appealed the patients and their attendants to cooperate with the hospital administration so that timely treatment would be provided to them.
Ch Lal Singh took stock of various services being extended to the patients in the hospital and directed the concerned to devise an effective mechanism to deal with heavy rush of patients.
Deliberating upon the non-functioning of several sophisticated diagnostic equipment at times, the Minister made it clear that all necessary measures should be taken to put them in place on priority basis. He also directed the medical authorities to ensure that all the necessary equipment are being serviced and checked for their proper working.
In this regard, Ch Lal Singh fervently appealed to the people to cooperate with the authorities instead of losing patience as it affects the treatment of their own people.
