Pilgrim falls from moving train, dies

JAMMU, June 27: A Vaishno Devi pilgrim died today after falling from a running train in Bajalta area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a man identified as Ashok Kumar Chawla (61) son of Ram Lal Chawla, a resident of Rohtak in Haryana, along with his family was on his way to Katra in Shiv Shakti Express, when he fell from the train near Bajalta and died on the spot.
The body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where after conducting postmortem, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
According to the family members, the deceased was a diabetic patient and his blood pressure used to remain high, which may be the cause of this accident.
A case in this regard has been registered at police station GRP Jammu and further investigations started.
