Cover all eligible farmers under KCC: DC Samba

SAMBA, June 30: The Samba district has recorded 53.74 percent CD ratio during the last financial year with Rs 2443.41 crore deposits and Rs 1312. 98 crore advances.
Giving information at a meeting of bankers and District – Sectoral Officers held to review the progress and performance of banks under Annual Credit Plan, Lead Bank Manager (LBM), Rajesh Sharma said that against the bench mark of 40% under priority sector advances, the banks have comfortably achieved 59.52% during the last financial year. The advances to weaker sections of the society were 19.81% against the national target of 10% and 5.75% to women beneficiaries against   5% national benchmark, LBM said.
The District Development Commissioner,   Sheetal Nanda, chaired the meeting and had a detailed   review of progress achieved in sponsoring the cases by various departments like DRDA, KVIB, KVIC, DIC, Employment, SC/ST/OBC Corporation, Agriculture, Animal/Sheep Husbandry etc. under various schemes like KCC, NRLM, JKSES, PMEGP etc.
The DDC while reviewing the progress of KCC instructed the Agriculture Department and banks to clear the backlog and ensure that all eligible farmers are covered under the scheme. She also urged upon the bankers to disburse credit under the KCC scheme. She exhorted upon banks and Agricultural Department to complete 100% coverage of farmers under KCC.
She further advised the banks and sponsoring agencies to conduct awareness camps in the villages as well as schools and colleges of far flung and border areas to expand their orbit so that more and more people are educated, motivated and facilitated to take self employment enterprises.
Surinder Singh, DDM, NABARD elaborately explained the need & importance of Potential Linked Credit Plans. He also discussed about various NABARD supported developmental projects initiated in the district.
Dinesh Chander, Lead District Officer, RBI, stressed upon covering the unbanked areas of the district through bank branches or BC/BF model.
The CPO Samba Devinder Singh, representatives of various banks, besides the District/Sectoral Officers of various departments attended the meeting.
