PSC will have full 9 members in J&K to appoint gazetted officers: Govt

SRINAGAR:
The Public Service Commission (PSC) will have full nine members to appoint doctors, lecturers and conduct Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) examinations in Jammu and Kashmir soon.
The PSC has never had full nine members, chief spokesperson for the Government and Education Minister Nayeem Akhtar told reporters, adding that once it was left with just one member after the retirement of other members.
However, the number of never more than three or five has resulted in delay in recruitment of gazetted officers in the administration. In reply to a question he said full PSC will start function very soon and all recruitments will be made in a transparent manner.
He said there are 1,700 posts of lecturers at college level, 600 in schools, besides vacancies of 300 to 400 doctors in the State which has to be filled by the PSC.
Mr Akhtar said, because of less numbers of members in the PSC, the State could not conduct KAS examinations. Now, he said, KAS examinations will be conducted regularly once the PSC will start functioning with full members.
Replying to another question he said the PSC will start soon functioning. (AGENCIES)
