SRINAGAR, July 2: To ensure effective implementation of the road safety norms, the State Government has set up a lead agency to act as the ‘Secretariat of the Road Safety Council’.
As per the orders issued here today, the newly constituted Road Safety Secretariat will function under the administrative control of the Transport Department.
The staff of the Secretariat would include one Additional Secretary – an officer holding Selection Grade of KAS, Additional Secretary (Technical) – an SSP level officer, Additional Secretary (Technical) – a SE level officer from R&B Department, Under Secretary – from junior scale of KAS, Statistical Officer, Head Assistant, Personal Assistant and Senior Assistant.
The lead agency will coordinate all activities relating to the road safety in the State which would include functions of Police, Public Works Department (R&B), Education Department, Health Department, Local Bodies, Non-Governmental Organiz-ations and other departments concerned with road safety.
