Cop’s son among 2 held for wearing Pak T-shirts

JAMMU, Aug 16: Police last night arrested two youths in Udhampur after they were found roaming in the town wearing Pakistani T shirts. One of the arrested youth happened to be the son of a police head constable.
Some local people spotted few boys moving in the town wearing green color T shirts with ‘Woom Pakistan’ written on them in English and Urdu.
The youth sounded police, which swung into action.
SSP Udhampur Ashkoor Wani told the Excelsior that two youth, who had been wearing Pakistani T shirts last night have been arrested and booked under Section 153-A at Udhampur police station.
The arrested youth have been identified as Nawaz Sharief son of Mohammad Issaq, a resident of Reasi, presently staying at Romti, Udhampur and Sheikh Imran son of Mohammad Yunus R/o Adarsh Colony.
Mohammad Issaq was posted as head constable in 12th battalion of JKAP.
Police investigations revealed that brother of Nawaz, Aijaz Hussain had gone to Srinagar during summer vacations and purchased Pakistani T shirts from a Sports Store there.
Udhampur police got in touch with Srinagar police and found that such T shirts were available in Srinagar and Ludhiana.
Aijaz Hussain has also been detained but not arrested.
All three were students.
Mr Wani today convened a meeting of prominent citizens in Udhampur and called for maintenance of law and order. The citizens said they would cooperate with police as they have acted promptly and arrested the youth. They demanded stern action against the youth.
Police parties headed by SHO Udhampur Kuldeep Khajuria made the arrests under the supervision of DIG Udhampur-Reasi range Jagjit Kumar, SSP Ashkoor Wani and Additional SP Benam Tosh.
