NEW DELHI:
Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Unni, who led the Army’s medical relief operation during the Jammu and Kashmir floods last year, has taken over as the new Director General Medical Services (Army) here.
An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, he was commissioned into Army Medical Corps in February 1977.
The General Officer is a cardiothoracic surgeon and a recognised teacher and examiner at the post doctoral level.
During his career of 37 years in the Armed Forces Medical Services, he has held various clinical and administrative appointments.
He has commanded Military Hospital, Pathankot, one of the busiest zonal hospitals of Army following which he was appointed as Deputy Commandant Command Hospital (CC), Lucknow and later the prestigious Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt.
The General Officer also has the distinction of having served as Major General (Medical) of Northern Command, one of the most active Commands of the Army.
During his stint there, he coordinated the medical relief operation during the J&K floods in September 2014. (AGENCIES)
